Pusat Kesihatan UTeM, which was initially established on 9 June 2004 as Klinik Pelajar, has been providing emergency and outpatient care to students to assist them in maintaining their health while they pursue their studies. Reflecting the university's dedication to a healthier campus community and the increasing demand, service eligibility was expanded to include UTeM personnel in 2011.
Klinik Pelajar was upgraded and renamed the Pusat Kesihatan UTeM on October 16, 2014, to reflect a broader mandate and an expanded scope of services. In late 2015, the center's workforce consisted of a dedicated staff of paramedics and nurses, as well as four medical officers and one dental officer. The UTeM community is able to concentrate on research, teaching, and learning as a result of this capacity, which supports safe, high-quality, and responsive care.
In the present day, Pusat Kesihatan offers comprehensive primary care that encompasses oral health services, health screening, vaccination, health promotion activities, emergency triage and stabilization, and acute and chronic conditions. Care pathways prioritize the safety of patients, the continuity of care, and the prompt referral of patients to higher-level services when necessary. The team implements systematic follow-up, explicit clinical protocols, and evidence-based guidelines to enhance outcomes.
Over time, infrastructure and systems have been upgraded to ensure the delivery of reliable services. Accessible patient flow, privacy, and infection prevention are prioritized in the design of facilities. In order to enhance registration, recordkeeping, and service coordination, administrative procedures have been enhanced, and equipment is maintained in accordance with clinical standards. In order to enhance documentation, communication, and monitoring, digital tools are implemented when pertinent.
Through prevention and education, Pusat Kesihatan also contributes to a healthier campus. In addition to conducting targeted health promotion, it collaborates with university divisions to prepare for public health contingencies and supports occupational health initiatives. Quality audits, staff development, and feedback mechanisms are all components of ongoing enhancement initiatives.
The Centre remains committed to improving its services and infrastructure in order to remain competitive with other public universities in Malaysia. It prioritizes accessibility, professionalism, confidentiality, and equitable treatment for all eligible users.
